An old place. A living story.

In the hills of Umbria, Italy, Borgo Orfeo is part of an old hamlet called Castelvecchio.

Long before we arrived, generations of families, farmers and neighbours shaped life here. They worked the land, cared for their animals, shared what they had and gathered around the everyday things that bring people together.

Their stories remain in the landscape, the buildings and the memories of those who know this place.

Today, we are discovering these roots while adding our own chapter.

We are Heidi and Koen, living here since 2021. We feel privileged to care for this place, learn from its past and explore what may grow from it in the years ahead.

We call ourselves custodians — not because the story belongs to us, but because we feel called to care for something that reaches beyond our own time here.
